Since I've never embroidered before, I thought I should do some practice.  I still haven't completely mastered gradients or satin stitching but I'm slowly getting there.  Most of Yuna's obi will be embroidered with satin stitch because that's the texture I like the best.  Embroidery is pretty fun and quite calming; you can see in my stitches when my mind is not on the embroidery and when it is.

Yuna from the video game Final Fantasy X is a costume I have been wanting to do for years, ever since I played the game nearly 10 years ago. XD  It's also one of those costumes, in my opinion, that looks super easy but is really really hard.  This is mostly due to getting the proportions of the costume correct.  Everything from the base costume to the decoration must be in proportion to the wearer or else it will look off.

Not to mention there are differences in the colors and character design between the FMV shots, in game model and character design sheet!  I'll be basing my Yuna mostly on the FMV version (at left) and parts of the character design model.  I just really like the proportions and colors of the FMV model the best.

This costume will more than likely take two years, due to the planning and mockups I will be doing before making the real thing.  I will also embroider the skirt and obi.  This has been done by a number of cosplayers before, notably by alliebeth on cosplay.com here: http://www.cosplay.com/costume/247448/ She's done such a fantastic job it's unbelievable!
